The Blue Notebook by James A. Levine
The title appeared on the top 10 fiction novels recommended by The Hindu. Being a fan of The Hindu, I purchased the book.
I never read it though. It laid in my book rack for about 4 months and wouldn’t have seen it either until I saw this book’s shiny cover with striking font hitting my eye.
The story behind it conquered my indolent mind and I, grabbed this book to finish it yesterday.
Uff!
Now for this book, the book is perhaps a reflection of men and women who devour the innocence of the young girls, boys for their imbalanced sexual passion. The story is a Diary of a 15 year old sex worker who doesn’t understand what is going on and expresses her disinterest to what the ‘uncles’ around her do.
She fails to understand why the uncle who praised her for her ‘song’ made her sit in his lap and caressed her back or her erupting signs of adolescence.
She seems to be lost but the faith in her doesn’t. She says her body is tired but there’s nothing painful.
The girl is hopeful and nothing more than that. Perhaps, we need to open our eyes to such gruesome acts and not just ponder but get up and act.

Poking at the answer given to Savi, the act in question is definitely pleasureful in nature and cannot be an harassment….unless there is misuse of the gender…!
Harassment can also come from aversion?!
Anto u are saying based on situation which again different point to talk. I would say Sex is pleasure not only giving birth but it has purpose. I feel man made it worst.
me thinks…pleasure is seen more in positive shades. here it is not so… as we note in the book review. In college we used a term called-’cheap thrill’…..
It certainly was ‘Cheap-Thrill’….continuous and deliberateness led to Obsession and now it is beyond anything…!!!

It is not about Sex or cheap thrill it is about exploitation. Be it man or a woman, the dire need or excitement in exploiting is something that must shock us.
