Finally, I get the guitar packed and on take my way back to Kormanagala, where I stay.
I get a few stares from people around, who look and give me a feeling as “Oh! so you too…Let us see how long this goes, I too have one at home.”
I am like looking at them and saying, ” I know, folks what you guys are thinking…Well, a day will come when I am there and you all will be gathered to talk about my music…”
My mind started reeling like the song in one of the Tamil movie, where the hero imagines his struggle for performing and being recognized as a music director is done for good and floats high…same feeling I got.
I am still in that feeling, I can hear different instruments chorusing with my guitar, but I am relentlessly playing it and the house cannot take it anymore.
I hear a loud bang….my head hit against the reeling of the car as I had been day dreaming, sorry night dreaming…it was about 10 pm when I returned home….!
I got back home and placed the guitar carefully on the bed….and was wondering where to sit as it occupied the whole bed. I nudged it a little and sat to relax my racing mind.
Oh! I forgot to tell you, that cranky fellow at the store, made me buy a foot stool as he highly recommended it.
He said, ” You need this foot stool, here ma’am. without it is certainly difficult to play. “
I said, “Oh! I can see that , but for now I will manage.”
Then, he said, “Hey, you need this Notes Stand, and this kind of stool on which you can comfortably sit…”
I told him as innocently as I could, ” Wow., my friend did not tell me all this..he said the guitar is all you need to learn it…!”
He laughed at my ignorance or my innocence I never knew….but nevertheless, he said “You know what you can sit on any chair that is comfortable…” {That was like music to my ears}
He looked at me and I gave him a look as if I am low-end model types…so don’t give me all your accessories…!
He said after a minute of fore thought, ” Well, you can leave the notes stand for now, you would not need it but later yes, certainly you need one, you can come and pick one….!”
I thought oh! wow, so easy…you never told me before…and said, “Yeah, I guess that will be fine. How much do I pay now?”
Pertinent question, for listening to all your crap, (Aloud) “Can I, get a discount on the purchase?”
“Hmm…he said, no ma’am. It is only on the MRP, I am giving you so no discounts.”
I said, ” Fine then, it is about 4800 Rs. Isn’t it?”
He said, ” No ma’am, it is about 6800 Rs.”
I just give him an exasperated look…He understands me better, he gives me a sly smile and says ,” Ma’am, foot stool is 1, 200 and the tuner is about 800. So, putting together…”
” Oh! OK…OK….then after a minute I ask him, “Do you think the foot stool is really required? Can’t I buy it next month?”
“No, ma’am…it will give you a look. Please buy it now. Now or later, it is you who is going to buy”
“Oh! what an analysis…Thanks, man. You were of great help(aside)”
I thought Classical Guitar – Yamaha c40 was a low-end model…well, really! Trust me!
The picture is yet to roll….I am home with the accessories and I look at them relaxing at the nudged bed corner and wonder how I am going to start this thing playing?
I open the box, yeah carton box which holds the instrument…I know I did not buy the guitar bag, that fellow gave me a bag heavier than t he guitar and charged me about 1400 rs for it.
I was intelligent enough, I said no thanks, I am not carrying it around so it is fine. Thank god, he stopped pestering me for it…!
Opening the carton I pull out the guitar…I hear a voice behind…”Check that out. “
I got terrorized and look back, it is none other than my roomie.
That’s it…I had to just open it out of the box and it went from my hands straight into her and she started, “You know I learnt guitar for 3 months and could not continue. My notes also must be lying somewhere. Will show it to you.”
I said,” Oh! yeah good…”
She started stringing the strings and sat there looking at her, wanting her to finish up and pass it on to me…!
Then, she asked a question, that I decide to run out into the open and scream…!!??
“Why do you want to learn a Classical Guitar?”
PS: Thus, has my journey with musical instruments has kick started, have to see the tenure of the journey!! Wish me, luck people!!! Venturing into unknown waters .
